MEMORIAL ROLL CALL STATISTICS
Checker Band

ChicagoCop.com has expended numerous hours comparing, checking, confirming and combining data on Officer deaths and demographics with official sources to complete our Roll Call Memorial pages. We began by combining data mined from the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation, National Police Memorial and The Officer Down Memorial Pages. Once that data was combined we began identifying and researching incomplete/missing information such as Photos, Accurate Spelling of Names, Star Numbers, Dates (Appointment, Incident, EOW, and Birth), Years of Service, Age, District / Unit of Assignment, District of Death (Present Day), Accurate and Standardized Causes of Death, Cemetery, Family Members, Military Service / Fraternal Associations and any other demographic information he could obtain. All information was gathered from the following sources (listed in order of precedence): Chicago Police Department Personnel Records, Chicago Police Department Annual Reports, Chicago Police Department Homicide Files (1870-1930), PO 1313 Magazine, The Chicago Police Newsletter, The Chicago Police Star Magazine, Cook County Death Index, Chicago Tribune/Sun Times and Chicago Defender Archives, Daily/Special Bulletins, City of Chicago New Releases, The Book "End of Watch" and many other third party sources as information became harder to track down. Although our pages are pretty comprehensive, we are still missing information and the research is still ongoing. If you have or know where missing information can be obtained please e-mail us at Info@ChicagoCop.com.

During our research we found several anamolies of incorrect / inaccurate data such as name spellings, star numbers, dates of death, and inaccurate narratives of the event. We have attempted to correct and display the information about each Officer to the best of our ability. Our research uncovered new officers that have not been included in some of the other memorials. We have added them along with officers from other agencies, specifically park districts and the Chicago Housing and Aviation Police Departments, that had been annexed, disbanded and/or absorbed into the Chicago Police Department.

A note on "Unit of Assignment" and "District of Incident." The Unit of Assignment for each officer listed is time period specific and does not reflect present day organization of the police department. The unit listed is that of which the officer was assigned / detailed to at the time of his/her death. However, the District of Death is NOT time period specific. Rather, it reflects the present day location in which the incident of the officer's death occured and may or may not be the same precinct / district it was at the time of the officer's death. When an officer dies outside the corporate boundaries of the city of Chicago, the District of Death is listed by city and state / country.
