MEMBER ACCOUNT / REGISTRATION QUESTIONS

I am trying to register, but the form will not let me check the box for "I accept the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy." What's the deal?

It’s always best to try a different web browser or computer when you experience an issue like this. This is a very rare problem and there is nothing we can do to fix this issue. It is likely a problem caused by a setting in your web browser. If the problem persists on a different computer, you can Apply for an account on this page CLICK HERE.

I completed the registration form but have not received the e-mail to activate my account. What's the deal?

If this is the case it is likely due to one of three possible issues.

The first issue could be that you entered your e-mail address incorrectly when you registered, this happens frequently! The standard format for CPD e-mail is FirstName.LastName@ChicagoPolice.org, however if someone with the same name as you was on the Department when you were hired your e-mail address will be different. If you are a Junior or a Senior then your e-mail address might be formatted like this FirstName.LastNameJr@ChicagoPolice.org.

The second issue could be that your mailbox is full. If this is the case then you will not get the e-mail.

The third issue could be that you just didn’t get the e-mail. For some unknown reason the message makes it to the CPD e-mail server but just doesn’t get delivered. It’s very technical as to why, but this only affects a very small percentage of people.

If any of these three things occur simply e-mail us at info@chicagocop.com from the e-mail account you used to register and let us know, we’ll activate your account for you manually. Keep in mind if you e-mail us from an account that is not registered with us, your account WILL NOT be activated.

We will usually respond to an e-mail within 24 hours.

I forgot my password or don't know what it is. How do I reset or get a new password?

There are two ways you can change your password.

1. From the login screen please click the “Reset Password” link to reset or change your password.

2. If you are already logged in or automatically logged in after confirming your registration via your Welcome e-mail. Hover over your name with the mouse in the top right hand corner of the website, a dropdown menu will open, move the mouse pointer over the “Reset Password” link and click it.

I received the e-mail to activate my account but when I click the link I get an error message that says, "This activation link is expired or has already been used." What's the Deal?

If this is the case it is likely due to one of three possible issues.

The first issue could be that your account is already activated. Try to login to the website. If your account isn’t activated you’ll get an error message that says, “This account is pending e-mail activation.”

The second issue could be that you did not click the link within one hour of registration. If this is the case reply to the activation e-mail and let us know, we’ll activate your account for you manually.

The third issue could be that it just doesn’t work. These things happen, technology isn’t perfect. This is known to happen from time to time and affects a small percentage of users. If this is the case reply to the activation e-mail and let us know, we’ll activate your account for you manually.

We will usually respond to an e-mail within 24 hours.

My agency is not listed on the "Approved Agencies / E-Mail Domain" list for user registration. Can I have my agency name added so I don't have to apply for an account?

YES, To have your agency added to the list please send us a message through our Get in Touch, Contact Us Form. We will need the agency name and a valid agency email address. Please note that University Police Departments usually use the same e-mail domain as the students, faculty and other university employees. For this reason University e-mail addresses can’t be added to our list. Instead you must apply for an account HERE.

When I submit my Registration Form or try to Login i get the message, "ERROR: That action is currently not allowed.” What is the deal?

This is a problem we are working to resolve, however it seems to be an isolated problem which affects a very small percentage of users using Internet Explorer. Try registering or logging in using Chrome. Any member can download and install Chrome on a Department computer, an administrator account is not necessary. ChicagoCop.com is designed to work best with Chrome. CLEARNET Applications (CIT, Crash, DV, Incident, ISR and TRR) and The WIRE are also designed to work best with Chrome. To download Chrome CLICK HERE. Once you click the “Download Chrome” and “Accept and Install” buttons the installation file will download. Open this file to install Chrome.

Why aren't the login credentials I have used for the last several years working when I try to login?

ChicagoCop.com has undergone a major redesign and the ability to log in using a generic username and password has been discontinued. Users will now have to register for an account in order to log in. To create a new account CLICK HERE.
